A potentiometer of the type used to provide a measure of throttle position in a vehicle system, has circular arc track segments of resistive material set into a plastic substrate (30). Each track has an end connection to an embedded contact pad (50) A contact sliding element (22) is mounted on a centre spindle (18) that connects to the throttle. Each of the potentiometer track contact pads are connected by soldered wires (52) to the ends of pins (54) formed in a socket. The pins are embedded within a moulding resin (62) having insulating properties. ADVANTAGE - Provides good protection against vibration.
