The method involves measuring (53,55,58,60) the energy of a demodulated signal by integration over a first time interval and comparison (54,57,59,61) with a threshold value. If the threshold value is exceeded, a hypothetical time shift is performed between spreading sequences. If the threshold is not exceeded, the hypothetical time shift is modified and a counter incremented (56). The comparison operation is repeated up to a predetermined count, after which the integration interval is extended to a multiple of its first value. The process is terminated when the predetermined count has been attained a given number of times. |
