Disclosed are: an insecticidal composition for a plant seed or a crop; and a novel method for controlling a pest insect in a plant seed or a crop harvested from an agricultural plant by using the insecticidal composition. Specifically disclosed are: an insecticidal composition comprising a compound represented by the general formula (1) or (5) as an active ingredient; and a method for controlling a pest insect, which is characterized by applying the insecticidal composition to a plant seed or a crop harvested from an agricultural plant.
