PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical transmission device for executing optimum diffusing compensation and a ring network, even when a path is changed-over due to the occurrence of a fault on an optical transmission line. SOLUTION: This optical transmission device is the one for branching, inserting and permeating an optical signal, which is connected to the optical transmission line for bitwo-way optical communication. In this case, a first change-over means 15 for changing-over the outgoing direction optical signal to the incoming direction of the optical transmission line and the second change- over means 16 for changing over the incoming direction optical signal to the outgoing direction of the optical transmission line change-over a path at the time of a fault. Moreover, optimum diffusing compensation is executed, even when the path is changed-over by a diffusion compensating means 2 for compensating the incoming direction optical signal by diffusion by a first diffusion compensating quantity and for compensating the outgoing direction optical signal by diffusion by the second diffusion compensating quantity, in the case of a normality and the case of a fault. Thus this ring network is constituted by using such an optical transmission device. |
