PURPOSE: To enable the contour of a backrest to match different needs of seat users by extending the terminal parts of a spring core into the side ranges of the backrest, supporting an air cushion against the fixed columns of the seat, and causing the air cushion to work on the sides of the terminal parts of the spring core facing the columns. CONSTITUTION: A spring core 22 made flat to elasticaily support a padding 18 is used, and its terminal parts 24 to be curved extend into side ranges 14. The terminal parts 24 are supported against columns 16 via an inflatable air cushion 28 and plastic elements 30 attached to the columns 16. This constitution allows the spring core 22 to be deformed as a whole when the air cushion 28 is inflated, oscillating the side ranges 14 forward and inward, and curving a center range 12 backward. The padding 18 is almost unaffected, and rising charging pressure within the air cushion 28 does not harden the surface of the padding 18. Because of the curve of the center range 12 and the small interval between the side ranges 14, the seat is suited for a lean person. |
