: An anchoring device for a beach umbrella. The device has an auger blade formed of an elongated flat piece of material coiled into an helicoidal screw form along its longitudinal axis. The device also has a crank handle. The rotational axis of the crank handle is in line with he longitudinal axis of the helicoidal screw. The crank handle serves as a carrying handle when the device is inserted in a specilly designed bag having a corresponding longitudinal slot through which the handle protrudes.
