A clip comprises a loop and two pincer arms formed from resilient wire and adapted to grip an object therebetween upon relative torsional movement of the loop and arms intermediate portions 4, 5 or 14, 15 of the clip located between the loop and the arms each having at least a part-helical shape, these portions being intertwined in the gripping position of the clip. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 which is primarily intended for gripping paper the: clip grips the paper by relative torsional movement.of the loop and arms through 270‹ from the position shown. As shown the arms are covered by sleeves 6 7 the sleeves having circumferential projections to improve the grip on the paper. In a modification however the arms themselves can be provided with circumferential grooves and the end portions of the arms can be bent to hook shape to assist the grip. In a second construction, Fig. 9 the shape of the portions 14, 15. is such that the loop 11 can be turned relative to the arms 12, 13 through approximately 360‹ so that the clip is suitable for hanging curtains. |
