[Also in Division C3] Dye liquors and print pastes are produced by reacting an o,o#-dihydroxy, o-hydroxy-o'- carboxy, o-hydroxy-o'-alkoxy or o-hydroxy-o'- amino azo dye free from sulphuric acid groups with a chromium or cobalt metallizing agent in solution in an oxygen-containing solvent miscible with water in all proportions so as to form after removal of insoluble matter a highly concentrated stable stock solution of the 1:2 chromium or cobalt complex of the above dyes which are free of sulphuric acid and uncomplexed carboxylic acid groups the stock solution then being diluted with water to form a dye liquor or print paste. The organic solvents used include dimethylformamide, N- methylpyrrolidone, glycols and their ethers and esters, ethylene oxide addition products with propanol or butanol.
