Pipe shaped concrete reinforcing cradles, which comprise longitudinal wires parallel to the pipe axis and a spiral wire coil enclosing them, the coil wire being welded to the straight wires at the point of intersection, are manufactured on a machine incorporating radially adjustable wire guides for the longitudinal wires and a rotor, which moves on a circle, which is concentric with the pipe axis. - This carries a coil for the spiral wire, which it winds during its rotation over the longitudinal wires, which are being moved in an axial direction, and also welds them together. - The welding transformer for the machine is stationary. - Pref. brushes are used for transferring one polarity of the current to the rotor with the welding head, the other pole being directly connected with the stationary second electrode. - This construction keeps the rotor light in weight and thus avoids dynamic balancing problems.
