The method is designed to reduce the incidence of interfering clutter signals in a secondary radar system receiver. Interrogation signals sent out with the main transmitter pulses are processed in a transponder which re-radiates on a different frequency with an identification code. This is received at the main radar. If the transponder re-transmitted signal carries a pulse-coded part of its address which when received, can be compared with the complete identification signal in a coincidence decoder network, the effect of spurious, interference will be minimised. further security can be obtained by giving each transponder several identification addresses which are repeated in succession. The number of dta bits for each address code can be adjsutaed to a tolerance band outside the unwanted dnoise impulses' spectrum.
