The gas burner permits a modifiable flame length with irrotational flame pattern by means of mechanical modification of the premixing grade of the fuel. The burner provided with air and gas admission members and control members comprises a number of gas tubes (5) arranged in crown formation, around the burner axis. Attached over each gas tube, at the end of the burner nozzle, is in each case a movably arranged gas-jet guide bushing (6). These are moved by means of movement members (10) of rod-shaped design. Burners of this type can be used in flame tube boilers having a blind combustion chamber and other flame tube boilers, as well as in industrial and agricultural devices utilising heat, where burners with a modifiable flame length and specific flame jets are required. <IMAGE>
