PURPOSE:To input pronunciation by utilizing any of plural kinds of notation method including the PinYin notation method and the ZhuYin notation method and to obtain Chinese character candidates including a desired Chinese character without inputting a tone or even when the input of the tone is erroneous. CONSTITUTION:Input data in the PinYin notation method are converted into corresponding sound codes by means of a PinYin/sound code conversion table 31, while the input data in the ZhuYin notation method are converted into the corresponding sound codes by means of a ZhuYin/sound code conversion table 32. A dictionary 35 stores Chinese character codes corresponding to a sound code train (corresponding to a word). The sound code train is prepared from the input data. The respective sound codes in the input sound code train is compared with the sound codes in the sound code train in the dictionary 35 through a filter masking a certain bit of the sound codes. Based on the comparison, the Chinese character codes corresponding to the coincident sound code train are read out of the dictionary 35 and the word (Chinese character) corresponding to the Chinese character codes are displayed. |
