A video cassette container is provided for at least two formats of rectangular cassettes, one of which has a greater length but smaller width than the other. In at least two neighbouring corners there is provided a corner projection which protrudes into the cassette space and which, in the case of a cassette of the one format, interacts with its longitudinal side and, in the case of a cassette of the other format, interacts with its wide side. On the sides of the cassette space there are bearing surfaces for the longitudinal and/or transverse sides of the cassettes. On at least two sides, one of which is between the corner projections and the other is alongside it, there are provided ribs protruding into the cassette space for forming bearing surfaces, the spacing of which from the respectively opposite bearing surface corresponds to the larger of the two cassette formats in this direction. Thus, a video cassette container which can be produced by the injection-moulding process in a material-saving and yet dimensionally accurate and visually pleasing way is obtained.
