PURPOSE:To enhance machining efficiency by arranging an exhausting groove for discharging machined chips at the exterior circumferential portion of an electrode attached to a ram. CONSTITUTION:In the case of discharge machining, the highly pressurized machining liquid furnished to a hole 25, for machining liquid, of a pipe electrode 17 is injected from the lower tip of the pipe electrode 17. As a result, by the use of the highly pressurized machining liquid and the rotating power caused by the rotation of the pipe electrode, it becomes possible to discharge smoothly machined chips generated by the discharge machining, to the upper end of a work W through an exhausting groove 27. By forming the exhausting groove 27 in a spiral groove shape, it is possible to discharge machined chips more smoothly. Thus it is permitted to machine holes for machining of the work uniformly and precisely and at the same time machining efficiency is enhanced.
