PURPOSE:To acquire the content quickly and simply by providing a 1st storage means storing part of a message and the 2nd storage means storing all or remaining content and reproducing the means selectively. CONSTITUTION:A message recording section 7 consists of a magnetic tape or the like and records all message of a caller sent via a trunk line in the automatic answering mode. A semiconductor memory 8 stores a part of data of the message. In reproducing the message from the caller during the absence, when the semiconductor memory reproduction mode is set via the operation button 5, a CPU 4 reads the data in the semiconductor memory 8, it is converted into a voicesignal by a D/A conversion section 7 and the meaning of the message is acquired. When the message is important, the reproduction mode is set to the recording section 7 by the button 5, then all or part of the message is reproduced selectively.
