PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an image forming apparatus formable an image of good quality by stabilizing the transfer efficiency of developer with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 10 forms the image by exposing the surface of an electrophotographic photoreceptor 24 with light in accordance with image information so as to form an electrostatic latent image, developing the electrostatic latent image so as to form a visible image, and transferring the visible image to a recording paper P. In the case of forming the image, the Stockigt sizing degree of the recording paper used for transferring the visible image is 10 to 25 seconds, and the recording paper is pressed by a pressing roller 30 arranged on the upstream side of a transfer means 28 in the transport direction of the recording paper so that the ten-point average roughness Rz1 of the recording paper surface before the pressing process and the ten-point average roughness Rz2 of the recording paper surface after the pressing process satisfies the following expression: (Rz2/Rz1)≤0.80.
