The invention relates to a depressuriser in the form of a passive device which is installed upstream of the expansion valve or capillary tube in a cooling or air conditioning system and which reduces the temperature of the liquid coolant originating from the water- or air-cooled condenser by at least 1°C, thereby increasing the cooling capacity of the cooling or air conditioning unit and reducing the energy consumption of the compressor. The invention is characterised by the design of the sprinkler, whereby the temperature of the sprinkler decreases by at least 1°C as the liquid coolant flows through the holes therein. The invention is also advantageous in that the design of the sprinkler enables the sprinkler to be: easily installed in the coolant tube that extends from the outlet of the water- or air-cooled condenser to the inlet of the expansion valve or capillary tube, or press-fitted inside the nozzle of the copper depressuriser supply tube.
