<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a high-power, high-speed linear actuator which is compact and has a high durability. <P>SOLUTION: A cylindrical piezoelectric element 3 is arranged coaxially with a cylindrical vibrating body 2 whose diameter is different in central and end portions. The cylindrical vibrating body 2 which forms a gap 2a in the central portion is fixed in the end portions. Vibrating voltage is impressed between first electrodes 4a, 4b arranged inside the piezoelectric element 3 and the vibrating body 2 serving as a second electrode, and thereby the vibrating body 2 is vibrated. Crests of the travelling wave are brought into contact with a cylindrical member 1 to which the vibrating body 2 is fitted. A moving body consisting of the vibrating body 2 and the piezoelectric element 3 is moved in the axis direction of the cylindrical member 1 by friction in a contacting portion with the vibrating body 2. The compact and high-speed drivable actuator is achieved by increasing a vibration amplitude via the vibrating body 2 prepared independently of the piezoelectric element 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
