A cradle arrangement 31 includes a base 1, first and second supports 9, 12 with locator elements 32, 33 for a load such as a gas turbine engine 30 and lever assemblies including levers arms 8, 11 associated with the supports, the lever arms being pivotally mounted to the base 1 and connected by a pivot link 6 such that the levers arms 8, 11 rotate in unison when actuated by actuator 4 while maintaining the relative positioning of the locator elements. The effect of the rotation of levers arms 8, 11 is to raise and lower the engine 30 relative to the base 1. The arrangement may include a detachable end plate 10 which may be used to rotate the engine 30 on the cradle by means of driver 15. Supports 9, 12 may be A or U shaped frames. Lever arms 8, 11 may form a trapezoid configuration. Actuator 4 may be an hydraulic ram. Base 1 may be secured to a pallet 2 and may include lifting features 3 such as channels for the tines of a fork lift as well as casters 18 and a tow bar 17. |
