Preparation of n-substituted aminoalkane sulphonates

The process consists of reacting an amine RNH2 (in which R is a 3C-18C straight chain alkyl/hydroxyalkyl group) preferably n-dodecylamine or 1-amino-2-hydroxydodecane, with an alkali metal/ammonium salt of vinyl sulphonic acid, preferably the sodium salt, suitably at 35-100 degrees C. The products are used as detergents and wetting agents.
