A cleaning composition comprises (A) at least one proteinase; (B) at least one lipase and/or decarboxylase; and (C) at least one surfactant. The proteinase activity is preferably 100- 50,000 Delft units/gram whilst the lipase may have an activity of 2À4-1,200 Boissonas lipase units/gram. The composition may also comprise (D) an amylase which preferably has an activity of 0À2-25 Willstõtter casein units/gram, (E) water, a non-aqueous solvent and/or an inert or abrasive solid and (F) a sequestering agent. The surfactant is preferably non-ionic. In examples (C) may be (1) nonyl phenol ethoxylate; (2) sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate and stearyl ethoxylate; (3) coconut diethanolamide, alcohol ethoxylate and alkyl phenol ethoxylate; and (4) sodium lauryl sulphate, lauric isopropanolamide and lauric monothanolamide sulphosuccinate. The formulations of Examples 1 to 3 are effective as oven cleaners whilst that of Example 4 may be used as a carpet shampoo. When (E) is water or a non-aqueous solvent, e.g. propylene glycol or a water miscible alcohol the composition is suitable for packing in a pressurized dispenser together with a liquefied gas propellent, e.g. a fluorocarbon. When (E) is an inert or abrasive solid, e.g. CaCO 3 or silica, the composition may be a dry powder. The sequestrant (F) may be a builder salt, e.g. alkali metal condensed phosphate; a phosphonic acid or salt thereof; non- phosphatic sequestrants, e.g. citric acid, NTA and EDTA and salts thereof. Optional ingredients specified are sodium perborate, sodium sulphate. |
