1,223,373. Filter press plate. HANSENSGUMMI & PACKUNGS WERKE, K.G. PAUL and J. HANSEN. 14 April, 1969 [2 May, 1968], No. 18956/69. Heading B1D. A filter press plate comprises a central sheet 3 fluted at 3a to drain filtrate from behind overlying filter cloth 6, and clamped between respective halves 1, 2 of a peripheral frame, which are connected by bolts (4) passing through sheet 3 (Figs. 1, 3, not shown). Filter cloth 6 is secured by threaded annular stud 7, which define aligned slurry inlet passages in different plates, and by pegs driven into the periphery of the frame (Fig. 4, not shown). Stud 7 may penetrate the frame, as shown, or a thickened part of sheet 3. Sheet 3 may be rubber or plastics and is reinforced by embedded resilient sheet 5, of natural or synthetic fibre fabric, steel wire gauze, sheet steel or plastics. Beads (3b) on each side of sheet 3 fit into grooves in the frame halves (Fig. 4), so that outward forces on the sides of the frame, when the press is pressurised, are resisted by tensioning of the sheet 3. Sheet 3 may be replaced when damaged. |
