A thermal neutron detector contains in a housing a number of parallel Al plates, each with a bilateral coating of B. Counting elements consisting of wire grids in a frame of insulating material are kept at high tension and are arranged between these plates. The whole housing is filled with a gas mixt. of Ar and CH4.
