Siloxane finish for textiles - esp stretch stockings by treatment with pre-polymer and heating

Knitted goods are treated with a non-aq. soln. of a polyorganosiloxane prepolymer contg. polymerisation catalyst, to give a deposit of =10 wt.% and the resulting structure is heated at 50 degrees-200 degrees C to complete polymerisation. The goods are pref. knitted from multi fibre yarns which can be texturised or crimped esp. ladies' stockings. The pre-polymer pref. consists of a linear polysiloxane as main component, with av. polymerisation degree of >=50, pref. >=100. The treatment increases elasticity and resistance to creasing and shrinkage, imparting to stretch stockings a durable smoothness, increased softness and extended life.
