摘要 <p>1318245 Producing metal powders METAL INNOVATIONS INC 28 Aug 1970 [4 Sept 1969] 41655/70 Heading C7X Metal powder is produced by directing a stream 24 of molten metal downwardly into an enclosed atomizing chamber 13, impinging upon stream 24 in a first stage opposed thin flat streams 25, 26, of water directed downwardly under pressure at an angle to the vertical to atomize stream 24 into irregular particles, immediately thereafter rapidly quenching said particles by turbulent contact with water to a temperature below that at which oxidation of the particles readily occurs, the turbulent contact including impinging opposed jets 30, 31, of water under pressure upon the particles in a second stage below the first stage, and collecting the particles in a body 11 of cooling water. Generally, streams 25 and 26 have a pressure of at least 500 p. s. i. and streams 30, 31 have a pressure of at least 100 p. s. i., the latter delivering a larger volume of water and inert gas is fed in at 33 to ensure low oxygen content in the metallic particles, which may be of steel, Ni alloy, or Cu alloy.</p>
