The barrier is formed as a cage from interlocking longitudinal and transverse precast members formed from artificial stone, concrete etc. This cage when viewed in transverse section defines a volume which decreases in width from bottom to top, this volume being filled with earth. The transverse members constitute mono-bloc 'A' frames (1) locating at uniform longitudinal spacings and longitudinal members (2) are of plank form and sit in notches formed (51) on the legs (50) of the 'A' frames; inclining slightly outwards. The 'A' frames also have transverse beams (52) tying the feet and two stubs (53) project below this beam for ground insertion and in situ concrete (54) surrounds.
