A sliding vane for a rotor is provided to improve efficiency of a rotary engine or a compressor by maintaining air-tightness between an axial side surface of the sliding vane and a cover so that a compression is performed without leakage of high pressure gas. A sliding vane for a rotor comprises a vane body(10), press plates(3a to 3d), and air-tightness rods(5a,5b). The vane body has a rectangular plate shape having a center with a spacer groove(12), and two side surfaces in a diameter direction with pockets(23a,23b) for accommodating the press plates. The press plates have inner surfaces in a diameter direction with springs(15) for providing pressing forces in the direction of a cylinder wall, and outer surfaces in the diameter direction with grooves(7a to 7d) for insertion of the air-tightness rods. The press plates have inner surfaces in an axial direction with springs(19) for providing pressing forces in the direction of a cylinder cover. The air-tightness rods have lengths to be inserted into the grooves of the press plates accommodated in the same pocket, and surface hardness and strength larger than those of the press plates.
