PURPOSE: To obtain a material for fluorescent printing which is a material, having an ultraviolet absorbing layer as a back coating layer and capable of preventing the fluorescent intensity of the formed fluorescent printing layer form deteriorating even if the fluorescent printing layer is formed with an ink containing a fluorescent dye. CONSTITUTION: This material for fluorescent printing is the one for printing with an ink containing a fluorescent dye and has an ultraviolet absorbing layer 2 provided on a substrate and an ultraviolet absorber substantially fixed in the ultraviolet absorbing layer 2. Furthermore, the fluorescent print such as a bar code has a printing layer 3 formed of the ink containing the fluorescent dye on the ultraviolet absorbing layer 2 of the material. In addition, the material for the fluorescent printing is the one for printing with the ink containing the fluorescent dye and has the ultraviolet absorbing layer 2 on the substrate and a protecting layer 4 substantially transparent to ultraviolet and visible rays on the ultraviolet absorbing layer 2. The protecting layer is substantially impermeable to both the fluorescent dye in the ink and the ultraviolet absorber in the ultraviolet absorbing layer 2.
