An electrical house-wiring device (3) that can be built into an apparatus socket, especially a flush-mounted socket, especially an aerial wall socket, a power socket or a light switch, has at least one spreading device (9) for anchoring the house-wiring device in the apparatus socket (1) which is preferably provided with or designed with a restoring spring device. The spreading device comprises a pivoting arm (21) adjustable via a screw (17) with a blade, claw (23) or clamping section sitting at the end of the pivoting arm. The spreading element has an operating section (24) at its rearward end lying opposite the blade, claw or clamping section. It lies in the extended state in the movement path of the screw to be turned. By turning the screw and by reaction of the screw's end face or the edge of the screw surrounding the end face with the operating section, the pivot arm (and therefore the blade, claw or clamping section) can be bent or deflected in the direction of the wall of the apparatus socket.
