The present invention relates to an exhaust gas treatment apparatus (14) having a housing (16) forming an entrance part (12). A flow section formed by the housing is expanded from the entrance (12) in the direction of a main section, and an exhaust gas treatment element (18) is arranged on the interior of the main section. In a section between the entrance part (12) and the main section, a flow guide device (22) is arranged in an inner space restricted by the housing. The flow guide device (22) is used to expand the flow of exhaust gas. The exhaust gas treatment apparatus includes an adjusting device (30) to change the position and/or orientation of the flow guide device (22). In the exhaust gas treatment apparatus (14), the flow guide device (22) is able to be adjusted to allow the flow of exhaust gas to forcibly and relatively be concentrated on only a partial area of the exhaust gas treatment element (18) when mass flow of the exhaust gas is relatively less in accordance with the amount of mass flow of the exhaust gas, which has been guided or will be guided through the exhaust gas treatment device (14). As a result, when thermal energy flow in addition to the mass flow of the exhaust gas is also relatively less, partial warming up of the exhaust gas treatment element (18) can be accelerated, or partial over-cooling of the exhaust gas treatment element (18) can be prevented. |
