981,574. Lathe details. P. F. DE VALLIERE. Aug. 17, 1962 [Sept. 2, 1961], No. 31748/62. Heading B3T. A tool-turret comprises a carrier 22 indexable on a post 12, co-operating tapered wedging and planar surfaces 15, 17, 25, 27 on the carrier and post, resilient means 37 for locating the carrier in indexed positions, and means 32 for clamping the carrier. The post 12 may be secured adjustably to a base 1 by a bolt and nut 4, 7, the bolt-head being housed in a nut 30 turned by the lever 32 for clamping the carrier. A flanged ring 28 on the carrier coacts with the nut 30 for raising the carrier during indexing. Four diagonally - opposite tapered pins 35, Fig. 3, are carried by the carrier and locate in a pocket 44 in a flexible arm 43 of the annular spring 37 to position the carrier. The spring is secured to the post 21 by pins 40 or brazing. To index the carrier, the clamping nut 30 is released sufficiently to permit the operative pin 35 to deflect the spring as the carrier is turned and the operative pin leaves the pocket. The pocket may be formed by one limb on a spring, Fig. 9 (not shown), and a rigid limb projecting from the base 1, or by two limbs, Fig. 10 (not shown), projecting from the base, one of which is spring-pressed or forms part of a spring, Fig. 11 (not shown). |
