Lubricating oil introduced at 42 flows upwards between the turns of a roll of paper wound about a cardboard core C, emerges at the top, and flows radially inwards in the plane of two gauzes 31 to a passage 46. Hence it flows downwards to emerge at 48. To expose a substantial part of the roll R for ease of replacement, a cap nut 32 is unscrewed, whereupon an upper cup-shaped section 10 of the casing, retained on the nut by a ring 40, is raised and may be removed. Fig. 2 (not shown) depicts minor modifications of the central part of the unit. The roll R is preferably toilet tissue. |
