PURPOSE:To provide a method for manufacturing a thermal recording medium having excellent recording density, picture quality, and excellent surface strength adapted for various printings. CONSTITUTION:A method for manufacturing a thermal recording medium comprises the steps of so coating a support with coating liquid containing pigment having 80ml/100g or more of oil absorption amount as to become 3-15g/m<2> of dry weight, forming an intermediate layer having 300sec or more of surface Bekk smoothness, and then coating the intermediate layer with coating liquid containing 20wt.% or more of solid concentration having colorless or pale basic dye, coloring agent and graft copolymer of polyvinyl alcohol and (acrylamide.acrylic acid.acrylonitrile) copolymer. |
