<p>Catalyst consists of (a) W(VI) (oxy)halide (b) organo-Al cpd. of gen formula AlRnX3-n (in which n is 1 or 1.5 R is 1-4C alkyl, X is Cl or Br), and (c) 1-20C monocarboxylic acid, which is soluble in the reaction mixt. and can be substd. by halogen or opt. substd. aryl or cycloalkyl gp. This catalyst is used in prodn. of polyalkenamers by ring-opening polymerisation of cyclic olefins in a solvent. Temp. can be lower than usual during polymerisation, without great loss in yield, so that side reaction can be avoided.</p> |
