PURPOSE:To provide an oxide superconductor capable of exhibiting excellent superconductivity and having little toxicity and a method for manufacturing the oxide superconductor with high efficiency and excellent reproducibility. CONSTITUTION:An oxide superconductor is expressed by a formula: (Hg1-xPbx) Ba2Ca2Cu3Odelta (0.08<=x<= 0.41 and 7.625<=delta<=9.15), and has crystal structure where (Hg,Pb)Oz-BaO-CuO2-Ca-CuO2-Ca-CuO2-BaO as a lamination unit is laminated in the direction perpendicular to a (c) axis of a crystal (0.625<=z<=2.15). A heat treatment is applied at 600-750 deg.C to a molding body where mixture powder mixed with material powders of HgO, PbO, BaO, CaO and CuO in a molar ratio of (Hg1xPbx):Ba:Ca:Cu=a:2:b:c (1<=a<=2.5, 2<=b<=3, and 2.5<=c<=4) is compressively molded. |
