A thermosetting, free-radical-settable, unsaturated polymer resin composition and a method for setting thermosetting, free-radical-settable, unsaturated polymer compositions with a pH exceeding 4.5, measured as 10% by weight methanol solution, and containing a tertiary amine as an esterification catalyst and/or accelerator, where such a resin has been mixed with a co-polymerizable monomer and a setting system of a ketone peroxide and a redox-active metal salt is used. An effective amount of an organic sulphonic acid is mixed into the resin before setting, as a result of which gas development during setting is reduced.
