PURPOSE:A polymeric substance is added to plated particles of hydrogen occlusion alloy and formed into sheets, then crude hydrogen gas is passed through the sheet whereby the hydrogen permeation selectively of the sheet is improved in great strides and the costs for sheet production and hydrogen gas purification are lowered. CONSTITUTION:The particles of hydrogen occlusion alloy are treated with an autocatalytic type electroless plating solution containing a reducing agent so that the surfaces of the alloy is plated with at least one Cu or Ni. Then, the powder is formed into sheets and the raw hydrogen gas is passed through the sheets. The formation into sheets is effected using a polymeric substance (for example, the plated alloy powder is compression-formed on the base 23, then dipped in a viscous polymer solution to form the permeation sheet coated with the alloy layer 24). Subsequently, crude hydrogen gas, as the starting substance, is passed from the chamber 30 through sheet 20 into the chamber 40 for the purified product, while the polymeric substance stops contaminant passing through. Thus, hydrogen is selectively passed through and isolated and concentrated into the chamber 40. The polymeric substance is preferably an epoxy or fluorine resin.
