PURPOSE:To prevent disturbance of toner image on a transfer material, damage of the transfer material, dispersion of toner and contamination within the device by a method wherein when a transfer material having a high thermal capacitance is applied, a transporting speed of a transfer material transporting device is changed to an approximate equal to a fixing speed of the fixing device upon completion of transfer of the toner image of a final color of three primary colors. CONSTITUTION:As for a transfer material P having a high thermal capacity, a speed of a fixing device 40 is decreased to a slower second speed than the former. An image formation is carried out such that a background color removing process is not performed, but its color information is transmitted to each of image forming means Pa to Pc for yellow, mazenta and cyan, respectively and then multi-color transfer of a full-color image with three colors at the first speed on the transfer material P. After a rear end of the transfer material P passes through the transferring position of the third cyan image forming means Pc, the transfer material transferring device 30 is reduced in its speed to the second speed. At this time, since the extremity end of the transfer material P does not reach the fixing position of the fixing device 40, the transfer material P does not form a loop at its speed of the second speed. With such an arrangement, it is possible to prevent disturbance of toner on the transfer material, damage of the transfer material, dispersion of toner and contamination within the device. |
