PURPOSE: To provide an electrodeless high pressure discharge lamp having a comparatively weak light shielding effect and a comparatively low lighting temperature. CONSTITUTION: An electrodeless high pressure discharge lamp has a lamp vessel 1 surrounded by an electric coil 2 having windings 3. End parts 4 and 5 of the coil are electrically connected to electric current conductors 6 and 7. The windings of this coil are supported by an aluminium nitride 8, and its aluminium nitride thermally contacts the electric current conductors. Since there is excellent heat conduction up to the conductors from the coil, the coil is efficiently maintained at a comparatively cold temperature. This coil shields the lamp vessel only in a small range, and lamp efficiency can be improved thereby. |
