PURPOSE:To immediately write character display data when a display data switching instruction signal is generated in a character display data write device and to improve the processing speed of character display data writing without raising an operation clock frequency. CONSTITUTION:A character display data write device which is provided for an electronic small computer, receives character display data switching instruction signal input from a central processing unit, latches holding data for character display in a data latch circuit 15 and supplies it to a character data display part is provided with a control circuit 13 controlling a system so that a latch pulse for latching holding data for character display data when the display data switching instruction signal is generated is immediately generated.
