PURPOSE:To reduce wrinkles caused by a printing ink drying process and creasing splits involved in folding, by providing a water liquid coater between a printing unit portion and a heat drying portion. CONSTITUTION:A printing ink is transferred to a sheet 3 rolled out from a web 2 of a web feeder 1 from a machine plate adapted to a design through a blanket at a printing unit 4. The sheet after printing is coated with a water liquid in a water liquid coater 8 installed between the printing unit portion 4 and the heat drying portion 5. About 2 to 4% of the water liquid is transferred to an ink-free blank portion as its water content while only a small amount of the liquid is transferred onto inked portions. While an ink solvent and water contained in the ink are dried by the heat drying portion 5, a water content of the paper is also dried to some extent. However, water in the blank portion is dried much more than the inked portions. |
