The ignition plug (10) has an annular metal sleeve (18) extending between its terminal end and its ignition end, its internal bore (24) filled with an electrically insulating material (26), enclosing a central electrode (30), defining a spark gap with the ignition end of the metal sleeve at its end, the central electrode, the insulating material and the metal sleeve cooperating to provide a capacitance element for providing the spark voltage. An Independent claim for an ignition system for an i.c. engine is also provided.
