PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a (metal) salt of an alkylphosphonous acid which can be conducted in a simple way and enables an uniform reaction product to be obtained in a high yield. SOLUTION: A (metal) salt of an alkylphosphonous acid is produced by reacting elemental white phosphorus with an alkyl halide in the presence of a carbonate, a bicarbonate, an amide, an alkoxide, an amine base and/or a solid hydroxide as at least one base.
