PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power amplifier of a switching type with a bridge configuration capable of reducing its power consumption. SOLUTION: An inductor 185 and a load 186 are connected between outputs of a BTL 181 comprising: a DC power supply 103, and first and second switch circuits 182, and 183, and a modulation circuit 110 for outputting first and second modulation signals M1, M2 each including a pulse with a width in response to an input signal Va controls each of the switch circuits so that combinations of levels appearing at output terminals of the switch circuits take three states of (H, L), (L, H), and (L, L) thereby decreasing the period when the output terminals of each switch circuit take a high level, resulting in decreasing the power consumption.
