The method involves determining variation of vertical speed of an aircraft according to a horizontal speed of the aircraft and data representative of the power absorbed for lifting and advancement of the aircraft. A ratio between the vertical speed and horizontal speed variation of the aircraft is calculated. A symbol for assisting steering is presented on a head-up display, where the symbol has its position based on the ratio. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for assisting steering of a rotorcraft (2) a computer program for assisting steering of a rotorcraft.
