A roller sear/hammer interface for a firearm. The sear (11) has a roller (17) rotatably mounted between two side plates (16) forming a portion of the sear body (14). As the trigger (13) is moved, a linkage (12) connecting the trigger (13) and sear (11) causes the sear (11) to pivot rearward such that the roller (17) engages a notched surface (22) formed in the hammer (21). This rolling action releases the hammer (21) to strike a firing pin (24) to fire a round of ammunition. When the trigger (13) is released, the sear roller (17) rolls downward into an engaged and locked position within the notch (22) formed in the hammer (21). |
