The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and a functional health food for preventing, ameliorating, or treating Parkinsons disease, which contain as active ingredients, extracts or fractions of Paeonia lactiflora, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Angelica gigas, Bupleurum falcatum, Gardenia jasminoides, and Paeonia suffruticosa. The composition ameliorates MPTP-induced behaviour disorder and restores lost dopaminergic neurons, and is therefore highly effective for preventing, ameliorating, and treating Parkinsons disease.
