1283865 Tubular heat exchange elements M BEHR [trading as SUDDEUTSCHE KUHLERFABRIK JULIUS FR BEHR] 14 Jan 1970 [14 Jan 1969] 1870/70 Heading F4S A heat exchanger tube 1 contains an insert comprising strip sections 2, 3, 4 and 5, each of which has inwardly directed surfaces 6 and 7 and curved circumferentially extending surfaces 8<SP>1</SP> and 9<SP>1</SP>. Each of the longer curved surfaces 8<SP>1</SP> has a bent-over edge 10<SP>1</SP> which is subdivided into sections at intervals in the longitudinal direction. A bearing surface 11 is provided for the shorter curved surface 911 of an overlapping adjacent strip section 3, to abut against. Gilllike outwardly bent portions 12<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>11</SP> &c. are provided on the surfaces 6 and 7. The strip sections 2-5 can either be freely inserted into, or soldered to, the tube 1. As shown the surfaces 6 and 7 of each section make an acute angle with each other. In an alternative form (Fig. 2, not shown) the angle between the inwardly directed surfaces (26, 27) is 90 degrees so that with four sections inside the tube a cruciform open cross-section is defined into which a centre rod (33) may be located. |
