Mn(OH)mX3n-m (where M is a tri- or higher valency metal, X is Cl, NO3 or CH3COO, 3n is greater than m), in which m/3nx100 is between 30 and 83%, is used in conjunction with a chemically introduced polybasic anion Y, and molar ratio Y/M being between 0.015 and the limit of stability of the basic salt. Y is preferably SO4 or PO4, the product is preferably used at a pH of about 4-10 and at the rate of 1 part per 107. |
