IMAGE PROCESSING DEVICE AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further robustly and accurately execute correlation among images, and to minimize mismatches based on parallaxes generated in the correlation.

SOLUTION: The parallax between respective images obtained by imaging an imaging object from view points different from each other by using at least two cameras 11a and 12a is detected; each image is divided into a plurality of image areas based on the detected parallax; a corresponding relationship for the divided image areas is obtained for every image position on the same horizontal line while relating it with the imaging object; and a virtual view-point image to be generated by a virtually-installed virtual camera is formed from the image positions correlated with one another and luminance components thereof.
